Okay after finally reading all three books I can say with all my bookish heart that this is one of my favorite series ever. These books are going on my favorites shelf as soon an I reorganize my bookshelves.
So I thought I would share with you some of my thoughts and feelings on this book series. This is going to be a mix between a regular review and a gush. ‘Cause trust me when I say I have so much to talk about I don’t think I’ll be able to talk about it all here or this would be like a 5 page research paper.
I can officially say that I am in love with the way SJM writes. Something about it is just so easy to read. She writes some of the best, most complex, and compelling characters I have ever met. While I was reading ACOWAR I cried about four times. One of those times being for the Suriel. He’s my favorite gossip mongering messy bitch okay. I love him. So when he died I started balling especially when it says that he had the heart of a dreamer. Just that whole scene broke my heart.
This book also made be laugh a whole lot. Between smart ass Illyrian males and just other things I cackled a lot. One especially funny thing was something I saw on Pinterest. It pointed out that Lucien can only winnow short distances so his journey to try to get Feyre must have been hilarious. Poofing into different climates then having to poof back empty handed. It must have been infuriating (which makes it hilarious)
Words cannot describe how much I love each and everyone of these characters. Some of them I had to grow to love. Nesta for example. I couldn’t stand her. I thought she was the worst but by the end of ACOWAR I loved her. We get to see characters develop, break, heal, and grow so much. We get to see so many sides of our favorite characters. To me they all felt very real. When I finished the books I felt like I had lost old friends. It’s kind of impossible for me to pick favorites. Like obviously I love Feyre. I think she’s really dynamic and I loved watching her grow and change.
Of course I think there are two characters I think we can all agree need to be punched in the face. Tamlin and Ianthe. I’m glad the Weaver ate her. Tamlin I think is really interesting besides being a huge tool. I know some people when they first read ACOTAR ship Feylin and I can see why but there was one moment in ACOTAR that really made me dislike him. When Feyre was Under the Mountain doing Amanthra’s tasks there’s that one scene where Tamlin goes to meet her in that like dark room or whatever. I got so mad when his initial reaction is to try and screw Feyre instead of talk to her or help her in any way. That really was the point where I decided I didn’t like him. Feyre has put her life in the line to save your sorry behind and that’s what you do when you get alone time???? Nah. Then Rhys had to cover for him and all the smeared paint on Feyre’s body. Just screw you Tamlin. I hope that mask left tan lines on his face.
I may have just realized this is getting really long.
I think it’s pretty obvious that I love these books. I am super excited for ACOFAS!
If there is anything I didn’t talk about in this article that you want me to talk about feel free to let me know! I can do another post!
